AVIJJA is Insentience - by Bhante Punnaji

Описание к видео AVIJJA is Insentience - by Bhante Punnaji

When Prince Siddhārtha gave up Ascetism, he began to practice on his own. Recalling what his first two teachers Alāra Kālāma and Uddaka Rāmaputta taught him, Prince Siddhārtha attained the state of neither sensation nor no sensation (Nevasaññā nāsaññā yatana) and went on to attain the cessation of sensation and feeling (Saññā Vedayita Nirodha) where the activity called "mind" had stopped completely. This is the state of "Insentience" (no feeling, no sensation) which Bhante Punnaji called Avijjā. When Prince Siddhārtha woke up from this state, as he gradually regained consciousness, he saw the unfolding of the Paṭiccasamuppāda. He had awakened from the dream of existence (Nirodha-samāpatti). Prince Siddhārtha had become the Buddha, the Blessed One, the Fully Awakened One.

The traditional translation of Avijjā is "Ignorance". There can be no Ignorance if there was no consciousness. Avijjā is Insentience, and in the state of insentience, there is no sensation nor feeling, there is no consciousness, there is no knowledge. So "Avijjā" is naturally "no knowledge of anything" because there is no consciousness.
