The video project Voices of Youth aimed at giving Tanzanian youth a voice by empowering them to speak out and to visualize their experiences related to sexuality and teenage pregnancy. Voices of Youth forms part of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) North‐South funded research project Sexual and Reproductive Resilience of Adolescents in Ghana and Tanzania.
Using a participatory action research approach, adolescents planned, scripted, directed and acted in the videos in one urban setting, Dar es Salaam, and one rural setting, Mtwara Town.
They show us how youth (15-19 years) represent their experiences related to sexuality. At the same time the videos inform about interventions that can support youth in dealing with sexuality and teenage pregnancy.
