Median private-pilot training costs have risen to $16,500 according to the latest State of Flight Training Report by Redbird, while median instrument-training costs have risen to $11,500. Median time to complete private pilot training has dropped to 24 weeks and instrument training to 15 weeks. Commercial pilot training showed a median cost near $10,000 and a completion time of about 18 weeks. Sport pilot cost is listed as $12,000 with a 20-week median completion time. Mario Mercier Hernandez, 61, of New Port Richey, Fla., has been sentenced by United States District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle to the statutory maximum of 10 years in federal prison for the interstate transportation of stolen property. The DoJ said Mercier committed a string of thefts of avionics equipment from more than 40 airports across the United States, including airports in Florida, Tennessee, New Jersey, Maryland, and South Carolina. Pilots are petitioning Starlink to reinstate roaming plans after the company capped standard roam and priority plans at 100 mph (87 knots) ground speed. SpaceX is moving to push pilots into more expensive Starlink connectivity tiers. Under the new set-up, Aviation 300MPH costs $250 per month and includes 20 GB of data, with overages billed at $10 per GB. Aviation 450MPH is priced at $1,000 per month, also with 20 GB included, and $50 per GB thereafter. Previously, users often utilized $50-$65/month roam/priority plans.
