મિત્રો આ 1980 નો યુગ છે, જ્યારે ભારત જેવા ગરીબ દેશમાં ટેક્નોલોજી, રેડિયો અને ટીવી લોકોના ઘર સુધી પહોંચવા લાગ્યા હતા. લોકો માની શકતા નથી કે જે સિનેમા પૈસા ચૂકવીને સિનેમાઘરોમાં જોવાનું હતું તે વળી હવે ટીવી અને દૂરદર્શન દ્વારા દરેક ગામડામાં પહોંચી રહ્યું છે. એ જમાનો આજના જેવો મોંઘો નહોતો. લોકોના જીવનમાં અદ્ભુત શાંતિ હતી.એ સમય આપણા જીવનનો સૌથી સુવર્ણ સમય ગણાતો. અને આ પ્રેમ અને માનવતાનો યુગ હતો. જ્યારે પાડોશીના સગા સમગ્ર વિસ્તારના સગા હતા. અને ઘરની દીકરી આખા વિસ્તારની દીકરી હતી.
અને હવે માત્ર દેખાડો કરવાનો સમય છે. આજે 40 વર્ષ પહેલાનું એ જીવન ક્યાંક ખોવાઈ ગયું છે. હવે કોઈ બીજાના ઘરે ટીવી જોવા જતું નથી કે ચાર જણ એક સાથે ક્રિકેટ મેચ જોતા નથી. આજે ટેક્નોલોજીએ કામ સરળ બનાવ્યું છે પણ માણસને માણસથી અલગ પણ કરી દીધો છે. એ સમય હતો જ્યારે પાંચમું પાસ વિદ્યાર્થીને સરકારી નોકરી મળી જતી હતી. ગામમાં માત્ર થોડા જ લોકો શિક્ષિત હતા કારણ કે અંગ્રેજોના પગની ધૂળ હજુ સાફ થઈ નહોતી.
ગામના લોકો માત્ર ખેતી પર નિર્ભર હતા. ગામની મોટાભાગની શાળાઓ માત્ર ધોરણ પાંચ સુધી મર્યાદિત હતી. પાંચમા ધોરણ પછી બાળકોને અભ્યાસ માટે કોઈક શહેરમાં જવું પડતું. તમે પણ બાળકોને સાઈકલ પર શાળાએ જતા જોયા હશે. આજકાલ આવા દ્રશ્યો જોવા મળતા નથી.અને 40 વર્ષ પહેલા રસોડામાં વપરાતા પેટ્રોલથી લઈને સરસવના તેલ સુધીની દરેક વસ્તુ એટલી સસ્તી હતી કે તમે પણ સાંભળીને આશ્ચર્યચકિત થઈ જશો.
હા મિત્રો, 1980 ની આસપાસ પેટ્રોલની કિંમત 4 થી 5 રૂપિયા પ્રતિ લીટર હતી. અને એ જ ડીઝલ 1 રૂપિયા થી 2 રૂપિયા વચ્ચે વેચાતું હતું. હવે જરા વિચારો, આ દિવસોમાં 4 રૂપિયા ની કિંમત શું છે. અને વળી ભાત કોણ નથી ખાતું? તેથી 1980ની આસપાસ ચોખાની કિંમત માત્ર 1 રૂપિયા પ્રતિ કિલો હતી. બીજી ઘણી વસ્તુઓ 40 વર્ષ પહેલા સસ્તી હતી...
ત્યારે વીજળી એક મોટી સમસ્યા હતી.ગામમાં વીજળી મેળવવી ખૂબ જ મુશ્કેલ હતી, તેથી લોકો આ ફાનસ અથવા બોક્સનો ઉપયોગ કરતા હતા.અને આ ફાનસના પ્રકાશમાં કોણે કોણે અભ્યાસ કર્યો છે? ચાલો જાણીએ કારણ કે આજની પેઢીને કદાચ ખબર નહીં હોય કે એક સમયે ફાનસ જેવી વસ્તુ પણ હતી. વિશ્વની સૌથી મોટી ઈમારતમાં રહેવાથી પણ ગામડાના ઘર જેવો આરામ નહીં મળે. ગામના ઘરો જ ગામની ઓળખ હતા, જેણે ગામને ગામડું બનાવ્યું.
