OK, now I'm just messing around. I used my ‪@EstesRockets1‬ "Astrocam" today for the first time in a long while, which prompted this video: 4 minutes of real time model rocket footage, from load up to recovery. All from the perspective of an Astrocam.

About a year ago, I mounted the camera on an ancient Estes "Guardian" and flew it over the Blowing Dust Area launch site. I included some footage of this launch in another video (   • Blowing Dust Area Arizona Model Rocket Lau...  , editing it to fit the overall story the video told. The following video shows the complete, unedited video ‪@mobrockets‬ used for that video.

Raw video is interesting. Everything going on around the launch is captured. The music heard in the background emanated from my phone, which was in my pocket at the time. The camera picks up the sounds of the rocket being loaded onto the launch pad, the countdown, the motor igniting and launching the rocket into the sky, the ejection charge, the chute swivel, shock cord and nose cone rattling against the rocket body, and finally the rocket hitting the desert hardpan. Altho in this case, the rocket managed to find a little patch of dry grass!

One of the longest parts of the video is the time between touchdown and recovery. Normally I would edit out a chunk of video between touchdown and recovery when including such footage in a video featuring many flights. Not this time. The entire point of this video is to tell the story of, and experience load up to recovery.

The video title of "Lunar Mission" is in honor of the song playing in the background.
