First Juz starts with Surah Al-Fatihah which has one central message that is ‘Seeking Guidance’ from Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Then, comes the longest surah in the Quran which is Al-Baqarah which explains how to attain this iguidance. We are focusing on one main theme of surah Al-Baqarah in this post and the goal is to highlight one important lesson that is about the ‘Evils of Pride’ in order to seek guidance for becoming righteous and subservient servants of Allah subhana wa tala.

Note that the laws of Islam in Surah Al-Baqarah start with the command of following the monotheism in Ayah 21 which addresses the entire mankind as,
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous. (Surah Al-Baqarah 21

The absolute Master of this universe, who is all-Powerful and have authority
over everything, is so close to us that we can always approach Him without the intercession of any intermediaries, and can put to Him our prayers and requests.
