Easiest Way to Find Exhaust Leaks

Here is a simple way to find exhaust leaks. You only need soap, water, and a source of forced air. You don't even need a compressor, in this demo I used a leaf blower as my air source, but you can also use a shop vac.

The technique involves spraying soapy water anywhere on the exhaust system you suspect a leak. Focus on any joint, union or gasket in the exhaust system. Once soapy you blow air into the exhaust system from the tailpipe. This pressurizes the system and as a result any spot that leaks will start blowing bubbles die to the soap.

This is great because the vehicle doesn't need to be running so all the components are cold/cool.
