The Arade River Area in Portimao Portugal is a popular destination for street walkers. On a warm Spring day in May of 2022, we did several strret walk videos in Portimao. This video starts at our apartment just north of Praia da Rocha in Portimao and proceeds East to the Arade Riverfront. It shows quiet neighborhoods along the way and shows the marina areas along the Arade with all the activities that were ongoing on that Sunday. In this video, we comment on many aspects of contruction, architecture and aspects of life in Portimao (from our perspectives as Expats from the US).
We decided to use Portimao as our initial home location because it was in the central Algarve and provided us with ease of access to all other locations in nearby cities to determine where we wanted to settle permanently in Portugal. Portimao was a fairly large city that provided us with plenty of cultural and "convenience of life amenities" while we did our search. We visited many areas in the Algarve and ultimately purchased an apartment in a lovely town of about 20,000 in the easterly portion of Portugal on the Guadiana River near the border of Spain. The town: Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

We love Portugal and its people. We have found our new, permanent home.
