April 5, 1981 - The Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks set an all-time NBA playoff record when they combined for 29 blocks in Game 1 of the 1981 Eastern Conference Semifinals. As a play-by-play game log does not exist for this contest, the plays included in the video above are best guesses as to which defensive engagements entered the playbook as blocked shots.

It may be noticed that on at least four occasions, blocks occurred simultaneously with a defensive foul. Modern scorekeeping would not consider these plays to be blocked shots, as field goal attempts are not recorded on missed shots coinciding with a foul. However, in lieu of finding any other feasible blocks while poring over full game footage, there is a presumption that at least a handful of blocks during foul calls were officially counted. It should also be noted that at least one field goal attempt occurred off camera, which may have been another blocked shot opportunity.

The 76ers finished with 20 blocks, the Bucks with 9.
