Unexpected Trade: Selling Rolex for Patek Philippe

Stuart kicks off the action with a customer who is trading in four watches for a Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time in white gold. He has quite a large collection including a 36mm Explorer 124270, a steel and rose gold Datejust 41 with a chocolate dial, a full black ceramic GMT-Master II 116701ln and a ‘No Time To Die’ James Bond Seamaster in titanium on the nato strap. Pre-owned precious metal watches from Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Rolex are currently available at substantial discounts compared to their original retail prices, attracting savvy buyers who are seizing the opportunity.

Jon is looking to buy a a selection of steel sports models from a gentleman as well as a very unusual and rare timepiece. The Lyrique Étude No.1 reference LE50-1 is a custom commission from a group of 52 watch enthusiasts. The white dial dress watch is cased in steel and and features a scarlett red handset and leather strap. Jon isn’t afraid to say that the owner will know far more than he does about this niche brand and is happy to hear the story of the watch.

Next up Joe is buying a first generation Batman GMT reference 116710BLNR from a gent who originally purchased it in 2016. The watch is in great condition but it will require a very light polish to bring it back to pristine retail ready condition. Can Joe make the right offer to close the deal.

Josh is in the store to show a 31mm lady Datejust in steel and gold with a beautiful olive green dial. This reference 278273 is an example of the classic combination of fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet.

To round things off Jon helps guide a gent through a part-exchange deal. The incoming watch is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph in steel with a blue dial and the watches being considered for purchase are both Datejust 41 models. One has the blue baton dial and the other features the Wimbledon slate dial with roman numerals. If Jon can get the numbers to work for the customer there is a deal to be done.
