Exploring BATTLE ABBEY | 1066 Country

Concluding my Travels to some of the Historic Locations around 1066 Country in East Sussex, I Visit the place where it all began and the Ruins of the Grade 1 Listed Battle Abbey. The Abbey was Built on the Site of the Famous Battle of Hastings which occurred on 14th October 1066 between the Armies of the invading William the Conqueror and King Harold Godwinson, the last of the Anglo-Saxon Kings. Updated in the 13th Century, this magnificent Ruin was in use until The Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538. Battle Abbey is now the care of English Heritage.
