In images taken on November 9, 2025, Loeb observes tightly collimated jets stretching over a million kilometers, yet they show no signs of smearing or curvature that would normally be caused by rotation. He explores several possible explanations: from sublimation constrained to specific, shadowed ice pockets on the surface, to a far more controversial idea — that these jets could actually come from technological thrusters, suggesting a non-natural origin. This claim adds to a growing list of 12 anomalies Loeb has documented, including unusual trajectory, unexpected composition, and non-gravitational acceleration, all of which challenge the idea of 3I/ATLAS being a “normal” comet. While Loeb hasn’t yet updated his “Loeb Scale” ranking for the object, he notes that upcoming data — especially detailed measurements of jet speed, mass flux, and composition — could significantly change the picture.
