Idar-Oberstein is known as the Gem Capital of the world. At it's height, it had more than 950 gem handlers and shops in and around the city. It is also home to the famed Spiessbratenfest and Jazz Days Festival. Between the various museums, shops, and restaurants, many with a view to the world famous Church in the Rock, known locally as the Felsenkirche, you can easily spend a day just exploring. Don't miss going above the the Neues Schloss and Altes Schloss either. Both castles offer an amazing view over the city. Thanks for watching.
