Business in Eldoret town was brought to a standstill as hundreds of residents took to the streets to protest alleged utterances made by Kiambu governor William Kabogo to the effect that jubilee will not give deputy President William Ruto a direct candidature in his presidential bid in 2022. Several leaders from Mt Kenya regional have since distanced themselves from the statement; Kabogo insists that his was just a wakeup call, that all parties must be treated equally and that contrary to belief he remains a firm supporter of the Deputy President.
