The Oregon Pacific Coast Trail, part one, is the first part of a section hike through Oregon on the Pacific Crest Trail in the summer of 2023. I am happy to share my journey through most of the PCT of Oregon and this first part documents my journey from the Oregon/California border at Donomore Pass east to Callahan’s Lodge just off Interstate 5 in August of 2023. Part 2 will document my journey south then east then north from
Callahan’s Lodge past Pilot Rock and then to Fish Lake during the heat wave of the summer. Part 3 from Fish Lake to Crater Lake. Part 4 from Crater Lake to Winding Pass, and Part 5 from Indigo Pass to Willamette Pass staying over at Shelter Cove on Odelle Lake. Part 6 will have to wait as the “Pete’s Fire” has closed the trail from Willamette Pass to Santiam Pass. The remaining parts will Start at Santiam Pass after a small break of this section hiker and continue past Ollalie Lake and Timberline Lodge to the Bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks, Oregon where I will finish the section hike for now. Once open, I hope to complete Part 6 from Willamette Pass to Santiam Pass one day soon. I would like to thank the Trail angels who have placed water and surprises along the way, particularly “Devilfish” for his effort in making sure we didn’t fire due to dehydration in Southern Oregon and my sister Brook for transporting me around the state.
