From the Transport Routine vault!

Between Burgfarrnbach and Siegelsdorf, I spent a spring afternoon of 2023 watching trains tear along the straight high‑speed section of the Nürnberg–Würzburg line, where diesel and electric traffic bizarrely share the same corridor. An ICE T blasted through first, followed by an ICE 3 and an ICE 1. Regional services added variety, including Class 425 sets working the stops between Nuremberg, Fürth, and Neustadt an der Aisch. These were almost a year later retired due to their replacement by repurposed from the Franken-Thüringen-Express BR642 three-section EMUs. A freight train with a BR185 at the front hauling lots of Toyota Yaris Cross and Corollas was also spotted. Besides on the HSL, I also caught a LINT 41 from up close at Langenzenn en route RB12, rolling out of the station with that unmistakable diesel growl. Seeing a LINT 41, BR425, freights and full‑fat ICEs using the same stretch of HSL still feels absolutely wild.
