T'puram: Dr Thomas Isaac said in his budget speech that active steps would be initiated to find the undeserving people who receive social welfare pensions. In addition to the income limits, more criteria would be fixed for eligibility for welfare pensions. Undeserving persons who received pensions should return the money. The finance minister said that new applications would be accepted before Vishu this year. People who own houses with 1200 sq. ft area, car other than taxis and income tax assessees would not be eligible for welfare pensions.
