“The last time rock-jazz organist Wynder K. Frog recorded an album for United Artists it was titled “Out of The Frying Pan”. Need more be said about how his second effort under the same banner got its title? The music, however, does bear further examination in that it’s the latest chapter in the chronicle of a rapidly emerging talent. As previously stated, Wynder K. Frog’s milieu encompasses two distinct, yet compatible, music forms - jazz and rock. It is in his ability to draw out the best of each form, to make the music both logical and euphonious, that Frog’s true creative genius lies. He seems to have an acute sense of exactly how to interweave a certain rock tempo with a jazz melody line or how to stagger different instruments in his band to produce maximum impact. His approach to his art is, to say the least, more than casual. The compositions in this album also enhance its appeal. They’re all original and composed specifically for the Frog style of musical interpretation, ranging far in beat, tempo and mood.
