2. SOUNDBITE: (English) Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor of the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal:
"We of course are very very pleased that finally this arrest could take place. I've been informed yesterday by the Serbian authorities about the arrest, a few minutes ago a decision was taken in Belgrade to have his transfer ordered. Of course Mladic now has the possibility to appeal this decision but we still hope that in a few days time he will arrive in The Hague."

4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor of the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal:
"I've seen of course the latest Serbian opinion polls in Serbia and I have seen that the majority of Serbian people are and were against his arrest and I think it's a very important lesson for everybody, for the tribunal to explain perhaps better about what kind of crimes we are speaking about, but also very important for the government to explain that there is nothing heroic about what has been done and that Mladic has been prosecuted for his individual responsibility in relation to the worst crimes we've seen on European soil since the second world war."

STORYLINE
The chief prosecutor of the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal said on Friday that he was "very pleased" with the arrest of Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic.
Speaking on Friday, Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor of the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal confirmed a decision had been taken earlier in the day to order Mladic's transfer to The Hague.
The extradition order to a UN tribunal on war-crimes charges was made despite defence claims Mladic is too sick to face trial, a Belgrade court ruled on Friday.
Mladic's son said Mladic, 69, suffered two strokes while on the run for 16 years, has a partially paralyzed right hand and can barely speak.
A defence lawyer said Mladic would appeal the decision on Monday, but the former fugitive could extradited within hours if that appeal is rejected.
"We still hope that in a few days time he will arrive in The Hague," Brammertz said.
Serbian war crimes prosecutors argued that the health issue appeared to be a tactic to delay Mladic's extradition, and a tribunal spokeswoman said from The Hague that it was capable of dealing with any health problems.
The UN tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands is seeking to try Mladic on charges that include directing the slaughter of 8,000 Muslim men and boys in the Bosnian town of Srebrenica, and involvement in the relentless four-year siege of Sarajevo.
Brammertz indicated he was still considering whether to put Mladic on trial together with his former political leader, Radovan Karadzic.
Ideally he would have put both men on trial together, he said.
Karadzic and Mladic are accused of jointly orchestrating Serb atrocities throughout the 1992-95 Bosnian war.
However, Karadzic was arrested nearly three years ago and his trial started in 2009.
It will likely take months before Mladic is ready to go to trial after his arrest Thursday in Serbia.
Brammertz said on Friday he is confident he has strong and credible evidence against Mladic, who faces an 11-count indictment including charges of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
But many Serbs remain supportive of Mladic and claim he was betrayed by the same people he defended.
The Serbian government, which has changed mightily while Mladic was at large, banned all public gatherings and tightened security in the country to prevent ultra-nationalists from making good on pledges to pour into the streets in protest.
