US National Guard called out amid Portland protests

(5 Nov 2020) In Portland, Oregon, which has been a scene of regular protests for months, Gov. Kate Brown called out the National Guard as demonstrators engaged in what authorities said was widespread violence downtown, including smashing windows.
Protesters in Portland were demonstrating about a range of issues, including police brutality and the counting of the vote.
A large contingent of military vehicles could be seen driving and heavily armed officers were present in the same area of protests.
Demonstrations have been held in numerous U.S. cities following the still-undecided Presidential Election.
Demonstrations have been held both by supporters of President Trump, who claim that Democrats are trying to steal the election, and by people demanding that every vote be counted.
