This is an original Kenner Banjomatic from the 1960s. It’s a rare mechanically operated toy banjo that plays music by itself using interchangeable “Tune Players” which pluck a single string using a spinning wheel.

You simply crank the side gear and the wheel comes in contact with a string, that is dampened at various points on the instrument after board to change its pitch. No electricity. No motors.

This video and others in the collection I uploaded show the Banjomatic playing its original Tune Players and being played manually, exactly as intended when it was sold in the 1960s. These toys are rarely demonstrated, and (as of December 2025) there are NO videos online showing one actually performing/playing.
