The life story of Thachil Mathoo Tharakan, a wealthy trader during 1741 - 1814. Math darken. He loaned a large sum of money to the Kingdom to help fight its wars against Tipu Sultan. His ear was cut later he was imprisoned by Velu Thampi. Later king repented the indiscriminate actions of Velu Thampi and symbolically gave Tharakan a golden ear. He was a major supplier of teak wood to build the ship which helped the English navy win over Napoleon in the battle of Trafalgar. Although Tharakan was rich and powerful he had a tragic end.
