** Important note: about 16 minutes in, where I'm showing how to set up the timbre curve, I forgot to mention that the LFO Rate should be disabled, just as it is on the pressure curve. Make sure this is disabled when you save your patch. **

In this video, I'll show you how to create a custom MPE init patch in Surge XT. We'll go through the process of calibrating this patch to your own touch, and then I'll quickly demonstrate how to edit it and turn it into a basic flute sound.

Surge is an outstanding software synthesizer. It's the official synth of the Linnstrument, and it's free, which makes it a great platform to introduce some principles of MPE sound design.
