Chasing Symbols of Happiness

In today's society, materialism is often misunderstood.

People who obsess over money and possessions are not necessarily materialistic, but rather preoccupied with the symbolism these things represent.

Take money, for example.

It symbolizes the potential to satisfy all desires, which many people equate to happiness.

In this sense, money becomes a symbol of happiness itself.
