Doug Sanders and Jack Nicklaus at The Open St Andrews 1970

Incredible last two holes showing the fortunes of Doug Sanders, so near to winning his first Major on a very windy, dull day at St. Andrews in 1970. I have also included the 18th hole, the next day, in the play-off with 'that drive' from Nicklaus!

In this clip, I like Henry Longhurst's commentary but find watching the mental and physical torment going through Sanders almost unbearable.

I don't know what is more horrifying the quality of this clip,the fashion disasters or Sanders having 12 'look-ups' as he addresses his ball on 17th. No wonder Lee Trevino is sitting on the tee box, looking very bored!

Anyway, marvel at Sanders bunker shot at 17 and enjoy the 18th in the play-off the next day and all it's windy weirdness!!
