2020 was a very strange year for tiger kind. First there was #Tigerking which quite frankly was just silly and wasn’t really about Tigers. But then BBC along with @aldokane came out with a Tiger trafficking documentary. Far darker and more potent. South East Asian industrial breeding of tigers for parts and human consumption. That kind of dark.

I on my part have assembled a tiger skeleton, a tigress who was of the now extinct Javan subspecies. This made the events televised personal, emotional, salient, close to home. This will be covered further next year.

However if you follow @amurleo_land and @amurtigercenter you’ll be pleased to see far more positive news. Siberian tigers, are bouncing back, their numbers and range are increasing and expanding. So are their interactions with people but then again, the interactions are mitigated and managed. With tigers and people experiencing minimal losses.

The 20th century saw a catastrophic reduction in tiger numbers and tiger habitat. The wounds inflicted on mankind and nature are still sore and healing. But healing can and is taking place.

@sirdavidattenborough ‘s message of a sustainable future, has hit a worldwide audience and this vision is in the works.

Can it be done? Can we move forward into a future where man and pantherbeast cohabit on the same land? Can the tiger once again become a celebrated steward and guardian of the forest? Providing sweet, rich, fresh air for us to breath and clean forest filtered water for us to drink. It’s a vision that moves me greatly.

On the winter solstice, which also coincides with the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, #skulltalk with Panthera tigris altaica premieres.

I hope that in this small way I add my drop influence to a vision of a future where mankind and nature work synergistically, to restore biodiversity and connect more deeply with ourselves, our bodies, our breath and OurPlanet.
