So basically I'm doing an unarmed run without being a Monk. I'm using a multi-class Barbarian / Rogue (heavily in favor of the Barbarian). There are a couple specific things I want out of my rogue levels, one big part of which is enough Use Magic Device to (a) wear equipment even if restricted by class, and (b) open up wands and scrolls for self buffing and/or other utility. The rules of the run are simple: No equipped weapons (unless a quest is literally impossible to complete without one, such as if a weapon is a plot item or some such - I don't remember the game well enough to say for sure that's not the case at some point), and I must play on Very Difficult.

Yeah the main mage himself I wouldn't have had much trouble with I think, except he had plenty of helpers. So this one took me a few tries. But eventually I did figure out a good way to handle it I think. And as a side note, it greatly amuses me to be able to knock an Iron Golem onto its ass.
