Would you believe that COFFEE of all things is the reason we have Zoom meetings? Yes, that’s true!
A researcher at the University of Cambridge, Quentin Stafford-Fraser believed that coffee is one of the most important things to move computer science research forward.

Working in a 7-story building with only one coffee pot, the team often ended up finding an empty pot by the time they went down the stairs, so they decided to do something about it!
Quentin and Paul from his team wrote a bunch of code and mounted a camera above the coffee pot, and made a software called xCoffee, which they used to remotely monitor the coffee pot.

And THAT is how the webcam was born, and why we can now have Zoom meetings, video calls and even live streams!
