STORYLINE:
She can draw, she can design, she can shoot photos - Princess Sirivannavari of Thailand is a new Renaissance woman.
Showing her latest fall-winter 2024 collection for her eponymous brand in Paris, she said that she was inspired by the glamour of the 1950s and cubist art, especially for the accessories, and focused on elaborate draping techniques for many of the outfits.
It all starts with her drawings. Sirivannavari says that for a long time after her horseback riding accident more than a decade ago, she was interested in mostly drawing bones, legs and human DNA.
"And then now I want drawing about something about sense of woman. Like the body, face, flowers together," she said.
Her drawings her include many national Thai flowers like champaca, ylang-ylang, Siamese melodorum, cape gardenia and cork tree flower.
The latest collection - which comprises around 30 looks - sees the princess use lightweight fabrics that would keep warm but allow unencumbered movement.
