STORYLINE:
Thousands protested again in Lima and Arequipa cities on Friday, demanding the resignation of president Dina Boluarte.

Police responded during the evening firing tear gas canisters.

Protests in Lima are now larger since many demonstrators came the past days from remote regions, where dozens have died during a month of unrest.

Besides Boluarte's resignation, the supporters of former President Pedro Castillo were demanding the dissolution of Congress and immediate elections.

Castillo, Peru's first leader from a rural Andean background, was impeached after a failed attempt to dissolve Congress.
