This panel discussion will have authors who made their literary debuts at 40 or later share their inspiring stories of overcoming obstacles, finding inspiration, and achieving success in the world of literature. From personal journeys to unique perspectives, the panel explores the challenges and triumphs of starting a writing career later in life, offering valuable insights and encouragement for aspiring authors on their own writing journeys.

GUEST SPEAKERS

Kiran Manral published her first book, The Reluctant Detective, in 2011. She has published a total of 15 books across genres since. She is a TEDx speaker and was a mentor with Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk. She was awarded the Women Achievers Award by Young Environmentalists Association in 2013.

An award-winning writer, Saras Manickam’s story, ‘My Mother Pattu’ won the regional prize for
Asia in the 2019 Commonwealth Short Story Contest. In 2021, it was included in the anthology, ‘The Art and Craft of Asian Stories’, published by Bloomsbury, and in 2022, it was published in ‘The Best of Malaysian Short Fiction in English 2010- 2020.

Nadia Kabir Barb is a British Bangladeshi writer and journalist and the author of Truth or Dare, a
collection of short stories (Renard Press 2023, Bengal Lights Books 2017) listed in ‘The Best of 2023’ by the Indie Press Network. Her stories have featured in various international literary journals and anthologies.
