When you start to think about building wealth versus paying off debt, definitions are where you need to start. Therefore, this is a Single Topic video on the definition of debt. There are a lot of definitions out there, but I think this one is a really good one:

Debt is an obligation that requires one party, the debtor, to pay money or other agreed-upon value to another party, the creditor. Debt is a deferred payment, or series of payments, which differentiates it from an immediate purchase.

I think that encompasses it very nicely.

However, debt is more than just the dollars owed, emotions are attached to it.

Debt can be good: Mortgage, student loans

Debt can be bad: Credit cards, high-interest personal loans

But the focus here is on #debt and its #definition.
