Filmmaker Leena Manimekalai has drawn severe backlash for hurting religious sentiments through a poster of her documentary ‘Kaali’. After an advocate filed an FIR agaisnt the filmmaker, a 'Gau Mahasabha' leader Ajay Gautam has also written a complaint to Delhi Police and the Home Ministry regarding the same issue. The poster of the documentary 'Kaali' shows a woman dressed in a costume as the Goddess, smoking a cigarette with LGBT community's pride flag in the background. After, being slammed on the social media, Leena told a portal, 'These trolls are not only after my artistic freedom but also academic freedom. If I give away my freedom fearing this mindless mob mafia, I will give away everyone’s freedom. So I will keep it, come what may.' According to the report, she also spoke about the viral hashtag #arrestleenamanimekalai and said, 'These people have nothing to do with faith. Their fuel is hate.'
