Belluno Italy | A historic town in the South of the Dolomites | The Mountains of Venice

Belluno Italy: Surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites, Belluno is perched on high bluffs above the Piave River. After completing the 75 miles/ 120 km “Alta Via 1” hike, which ends near Belluno, I spent a night in Belluno. The historic old town was charming, with cobblestone streets, a wonderful piazza (square), Renaissance-era buildings, and ruins. I happened to be there on a local market day! The old town was filled with various vendors and local shoppers, and it was fun browsing! At sunset, the town was beautifully illuminated.
