Worst School-Related Disaster in U.S. History :

In 1937, despite the Great Depression that was ongoing throughout the United States, the small town of New London, Texas was a prosperous community thanks to their oil-rich lands. The profits from this industry allowed New London to flourish. Including, building a new, state-of-the-art school for their children: the London School.

However, one practice which was considered commonplace led to a disaster of awful proportions when it caused London School to violently explode. The New London explosion is still the worst school-related disasters in the history of the United States. And, it is the third largest disaster of any kind in the state of Texas.
