The Islamic Movement of Bangladesh has announced a 3-day program with 5-point demands, including elections using the PR system. Under the program, protest marches will be held in Dhaka on September 18, divisional cities on September 19, and district-upazila levels on September 26.

The program was announced by the Ameer of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, at a press conference on Monday (September 15) afternoon. At that time, he also warned that if the government does not announce elections using the PR system, it will join the movement with like-minded parties.

The 5-point demands of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, including elections using the PR system, were presented at the press conference today. The demands are

1. Elections should be organized next February based on the July National Charter. 2. The PR system should be introduced in both houses of parliament in the next national election. 3. A level playing field should be ensured for everyone for the purpose of free, fair and acceptable elections. 4. All the atrocities, genocides and corruption of the fascist government should be made visible. 5. The activities of the Jatiya Party and the 14-party party, which are allies of dictatorship, must be banned.

Mufti Syed Rezaul Karim said that the July coup was not just for elections and power transfer. The purpose was to permanently save the country from the grip of dictatorship by implementing fundamental reforms. But instead of giving importance to reforms and justice, elections have been made the main focus. Which will lead the country to an evil settlement.
