Do yourself a favor - Listen with a decent set of headphones to get the best listen to the audio tracks in the video. Your phone or computer’s speakers are poor, they neuter bass frequencies and are a true compromise in this situation.

Youtube applies compression to all videos, and this does affect the audio quality, unfortunately.

When editing the audio for basses with multiple pickups (Pickups combined Equally, Neck Pickup Only, Bridge Pickup Only), the signal levels have been largely left so that a listener can hear the volume difference between the various pickup positions. This results in certain positions sounding louder than others.

::: Our general feelings about the Lindy Fralin J Jazz Bass® Pickup:::
An excellent example of a classic J tone, Fralin’s J pickups have a nice open tone and have a certain ‘sweetness’. They can have a slightly softer tone, but beautiful, and one can still hear the snap when digging, in especially in the pick tracks. Most players who are looking for a vintage sounding J set will be quite happy with these, regardless of genre.

As always, keep in mind that these are generalizations. Your experience could be different depending on many factors.

Bass: Fender Squire Jazz Bass
Strings: D’Addario NYXL

Audio Interface: Scarlett
Audio Recording Software: Logic Pro X
In Logic Pro X, we used an amp modeler, the ’60s Combo’, which is intended to emulate an Ampeg B-15. There is a slight bit of compression and a high pass filter at 40 Hz. For continuity and evaluation purposes, these settings are applied across all of our demo videos.
