Original video: • Dosh App Review — 5 Ways to Earn Easy Cash...
Written review: https://dyernews.com/dosh-app-review/
Over the past few months, my video of Dosh has become the most popular on my channel and it’s clear there’s an interest in the app itself. In case you missed it, the basic idea of Dosh is that you link your various credit and debit cards and earn cash back when you use those cards at select retailers. Additionally, one of the aspects that have helped drive Dosh’s popularity are the referral bonuses they’ve offered to users spreading the word.
At the same time that this growth has taken place, Dosh has made a few changes to their application and their policies that you should know about.
With that, here are a few of the changes Dosh has made in recent months — some for better and some for worse
Starting with a positive update, I’ve noticed a few more retailers joining Dosh’s in-store program
In my area, some of the recent additions include Chili’s, Mattress Firm, and Payless shoes. While my favorite of these is Chili’s, where you can earn 7% back on your bill, the 3% you could earn back from a large purchase at Mattress Firm is certainly notable. Since in-store purchases are my preferred method of using Dosh, I’m always happy to see new locations come on board.
Now onto a bit of bad news, which is that you must now accrue $25 in cash back for you can transfer your money out.
One of the things I mentioned in my original review of Dosh was that it’d be nice if they lowered the cash out threshold for charity donation. At that time, the limit was set at $15. Unfortunately, that’s now risen to $25, including for charity donations.
Like I said the first time around, it is understandable why Dosh does need to have such a limit in place but the increase is disappointing nonetheless.
Finally, since referrals have been a big part of Dosh’s business plan, they’ve made a couple of changes to how these work.
A positive change in this vein is a new dashboard where you can view the status of your referrals and see when they’ve been paid. This is something that was promised a few months ago when bonuses were becoming backlogged and it’s a smart feature overall.
However Dosh has also made changes to their referral program that make it a bit harder to rack up cash. For one, while previous promotions allowed referers to earn $15 per person, the most recent event knocked that figure down to $10. Moreover, while bonuses were once being paid when referred users linked a card, updated rules state they must also complete their first cashback transaction before bonuses are paid. To be fair, Dosh’s official policy was always this way, but they seem to have become much stricter about it. Combined with the new $25 cashout threshold, it seems those only in it for the referral bonuses will have to work a little harder in order to make their money.
Despite these changes, I’m still happily using Dosh — especially now that they’ve added restaurants like Chili’s that I happen to enjoy.
I should also mention that, according to the app, those I’ve referred the app to have earned more than $14,000 in cashback total. Honestly, I find that staggering and goes to show just how much this app is catching on.
