When I first got into playing jazz guitar, the half diminished - dominant flat 9 chord progression gave me lots of trouble. In this week's video, we're gonna learn 5 licks to use over minor ii-V-i chord progressions. I'll play each one up to tempo, then give you an in-depth analysis of each one before playing them at a slower tempo so you can get a better look.

Each one will use ideas from both of my series' of videos: Improvise Like a Pro, and Guitar Fundamentals. We'll be using pivot arpeggios, bebop half steps, enclosures, and much more. We'll make use of the harmonic minor scale to get access the dominant flat 9 chord but we'll also dip into the melodic minor and the dorian mode at times as well.
