Host: Zlatko Minev, PhD.

Abstract:

Continuously monitored quantum systems can undergo "entanglement
transitions" in their steady states (conditioned on the measurement
outcomes). I will briefly review our understanding of entanglement
transitions and why it is challenging to observe them in realistic
experiments. I will introduce a variant on the entanglement
transition, called the "charge sharpening" transition, and explain
how it can be related to a transition in the ability of an
eavesdropper to "learn" the state of a system using local measurements.

Sarang Gopalakrishnan has been an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Princeton since Fall 2022. Prior to that he taught at Penn State (2021-2022) and CUNY (2016-2021). He got his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2012) and was a postdoc at Harvard (2012-2015) and Caltech (2015-2016).
