Angry Seal Charges Her Rescuer

During rescue season, we often find several entangled animals per group. Our rescuers try and scan the colony from different angles to make sure no one gets away.

The first seal looked like a recapture, but just as they wanted to release the seal, the rescuers realised that there was a very thin and deep entanglement that was already deeply embedded in the seal's skin. They carefully removed it.

In the meantime, Naude secured a seal in the net. She was not happy that she was made to wait during rescue #3, when Naude took a piece of gill net off a seal's neck.

When he returned to the netted seal, Antoine helped to cut through a few loops of thick fishing line around her body. She could finally breathe again when the tension was released. Despite being rescued, she did not appreciate the treatment and came for Naude - she charged him full speed!

We don't take it personal, we like feisty seals - it shows how much strength they have left. 🦭
