October road trip 🍁 Different areas of California have fall foliage peaks at different times, and it slightly varies every year. My best bet is usually the Eastern Sierra in mid-October since some of its areas are always colorful at this time!

🚗 To enjoy all the mentioned places you would need 7–10 days.

If you only have a couple of days, focus on one of these areas:
Bishop Creek and all the spots around during the second week of October
or
June Lake Loop with all the spots around during the third week of October

If you’re late and come at the end of October, check Bishop town and Aspendell since they peak later than other areas in the reel.

If you plan to do the whole trip, you can split it like this:

Day 1 – Bishop Creek Canyon, stay in Bishop
Day 2 – Crowley Lake Columns and Convict Lake, stay in Mammoth Lakes
Day 3 – Hot Creek and Wild Willy’s, stay in Mammoth Lakes
Day 4 – June Lake Loop and Parker Lake, and Mono Lake for sunset, stay in June Lake or Lee Vining
Day 5 – Bodie and scenic Hwy 395 drive stay in Hope Valley
Day 6 – Hope Valley and Lake Tahoe, stay in South Lake Tahoe
Day 7 – Lake Tahoe, and drive or fly back
