STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Muslims demonstrated against the controversial Prophet Muhammad drawings in Sarajevo on Wednesday.
They walked from the Norwegian to the French and Danish embassies, handing their written protest to embassy staff.
About seven hundred protesters joined the march and burned flags of the countries where the cartoons were published.
Police erected barricades in front of the embassies and deployed additional riot police.
The protesters stopped for several minutes in front of each embassy, time for a representative to go inside and hand in the protest.
"We demand an apology from Denmark and the other countries, because they have insulted one billion 400 million people. We demand this honest apology," said Samir Begovic, an organiser of the demonstration.
Some protesters carried banners which asked if the fundamental democratic principle of free expression should have boundaries; "Freedom of expression means cursing and insulting?"
Dozens of protests, a number of them violent, have been staged by Muslims across the globe over the publishing of the cartoons in European newspapers.
A Danish newspaper first published 12 caricatures of Muhammad - including one of the prophet wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse - last September.
A number of European newspapers have since reprinted the controversial cartoons in support of freedom of the press.
