Skatepark Documentary: Building Effective Skate Spaces. How Do We Build Good Skateparks?

Описание к видео Skatepark Documentary: Building Effective Skate Spaces. How Do We Build Good Skateparks?

Building Effective Skate Spaces is a qualitative research documentary featuring Max Dubler, Kanten Russell, Iain Borden, Miki Vukovich, Becky Beal, Gustav Eden and Paul Forsline.

This mini-documentary seeks to understand what goes into building well-utilized skate spaces. The research largely took place in the 2nd half of 2023 and pulled in experts globally from academia, urban planning, skatepark advocacy, and design/architecture. After over 15+ hours of expert interviews, we pored through the transcripts to identify common themes and learning spaces.

The inspiration behind the video came when a group of volunteers began advocating for a skatepark in Cincinnati, Ohio. As momentum grew for the park, we realized there was very little existing research on the attributes of effective skate spaces. We then briefly tied those findings back to the inspiration behind the research.

Special thanks to: Farihah Ibrahim, Wasif Ali, Nick Isaac, Fredrico Cheuiche, Dave Caddo, Gabrielle Larkin, Evan Walker, Dave Yates, Mohammed Fadlalla and Alec Beck for all your input and support.
