In this video, I’ll walk you through how to reset broken mods in Starfield without using the Unity. This method saved my Benjamin Doon playthrough when a unstable overhaul broke him completely, and it can work for quests or companion mods that stop functioning mid-game. The Unity is always the safest option, but if that’s off the table—especially during a Let’s Play—this process can get you back on track.

Steps in the process:

1. Sell any items from the mod to a vendor and wait 48 hours for the vendor’s inventory to reset.


2. Exit the game and uninstall the broken mod.


3. Save your load order and clear reserved space.


4. Restore your load order without the affected mod.


5. Load into the game, travel to the Pup system, and drop a hard save (the Pup system has a debugging flag that helps reset FormID persistence).


6. Exit the game and reinstall the affected mod.


7. Load back in and validate that the mod has reset to its beginning.
