Скачать или смотреть PlayStation is Making a Touchscreen Gamepad, But Why?

Sony patented a new controller design for PlayStation. The new PlayStation gamepad features a full touchscreen on its top surface. The design will have no physical buttons. But it will have fully customizable digital buttons, with size, positioning, button type and game dependent designs. Developers can include new mechanics to their games with this new additional screen area and use whatever input type they want.

Of course for now this is only a patent and it's not clear if or when this product might ship. But it's clear Sony have accessability in mind. This controller might not be released as the primary controller, but it might be and alternative gamepad for people with disabilities.

Another aspect of reality is as much as I don't want to admit, the console and PC games are losing the battle agains mobile platform users as every human being starts the life with a phone or a tablet these days. Mobile games are dominating the revenue in the gaming market with 54% share and also have a high gamer count too that matches console users and surpasses the PC gamers. Sony might want to release a touchscreen version of gamepad to get more mobile gamers into playing console games easily. These are just my guesses, we will see.
