Traditional hymn commonly heard in Catholic, Lutheran, United Methodist, Presbyterian, Protestant and Non-Denominational Churches. The theme of this hymn is one of praise. Features the Hyfrydol 8 7 8 7 D hymn tune.

This is the 13th of my "hymn"provisation performances that I will be releasing here. As a composer of sacred music, I love improvising on melodies that are part of the rich musical heritage of the church.

In this performance I take the Hyfrydol melody and pair it with several harmonizations, some traditional, others more contemporary. I complement the original melody with several improvisational styles with the left hand. This was a fun improvisation session and I hope you enjoy it!

"Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down,
Fix in us thy humble dwelling,
All thy faithful mercies crown.
Jesu, thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love thou art;
Visit us with thy salvation,

Enter every trembling heart.


Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
Into every troubled breast,
Let us all in thee inherit,
Let us find that second rest.
Take away the love of sinning,
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its beginning,

Sets our hearts at liberty.


Come, Almighty to deliver,
let us all thy life receive;
suddenly return, and never,
nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
serve thee as thy hosts above,
pray and praise thee without ceasing,
glory in thy perfect love.

Finish, then, thy new creation;

perfectly restored in thee;

'til we cast our crowns before thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.”
