Governor Tim Walz will be delivering remarks at a Harris-Walz campaign rally in Wilmington on Thursday, Oct. 24.
He is scheduled to arrive at Wilmington International Airport at 5:30 p.m. and deliver remarks by 6 p.m.
WECT also received confirmation from Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo that Walz will also hold a campaign rally at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. The NHC Democratic Party confirms the event is open to the public.
At the rally, James Taylor will perform. Sandra McClammy will also DJ at the event.
The State Board of Elections reported Thursday morning that over 2 million votes have already been cast during early voting. That’s around 25.75% of eligible voters.
Candidates have flocked to North Carolina in the campaign’s final stretch. It’s a key state in the Electoral College, and it’s considered a toss-up in the 2024 presidential race. Republican nominee Donald Trump made four stops in North Carolina this week, and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris held a rally Oct. 13. The Republican vice presidential candidate, Sen. JD Vance, is visiting the state on Friday to speak at an event in Raeford, about 90 miles southwest of Raleigh, and to hold a town-hall event in Monroe, near Charlotte.
