This is my type of yidaki, a scorchin' rippin' burnin' kick-arse stick. Talk about depth and bass response... when this yidaki is hummin' I get the same adrenalin rush as a car enthusiast would listening to the growl of a Ferrari engine.

I also love the extreme elasticity in the acoustics of this yidaki. The pitch is very easy to bend with tongued accents/column 'pops', allowing for fast trad rhythms, techniques 'n' syncopations.

The voice is sweet as. There are lovely full-bodied acoustics, rich with all sorts of harmonics in the low, mid and high range.

This is the sort of stick I call the "1 percenter". For every 100 instruments sourced by iDIDJ Australia, there is one that stands out from the crowd, a stick that is extraordinary in its acoustic response and could not be improved in any way.

Djarrambarl is not a regular yidaki maker which makes this instrument all the more alluring. He lives at Bawaka outstation and is married to Aaron Nalkuma's sister. For those who visit iDIDJ Australia's YouTube channel regularly, you'll recognise Nalkuma as one of 3 Yolngu men whom I brought to Korea last year for an international folklore festival.
