Disgraced land owner Todd Chartier arrogantly and deceptively insists on having a business named Todd M. Enterprises officially request a 61-acre parcel of land on Meldrum Road be rezoned from Agricultural zoning to Light Industrial zoning on the date of September 12, 2022 at the Ira Township Hall during a Planning Commission meeting that involves a Public Hearing.

Dozens of people in the local community unite in order to fight against Chartier due to the fact that Chartier is already abusing land privileges and already using the land for Industrial purposes despite the fact that no rezoning has been approved.

People speaking during Public Comments are not allowed to speak on certain issues the chairperson claims are "Off Topic," such as large amounts of money Todd Chartier and the wife of Todd Chartier have given to local politicians in a position to help this rezoning.

This money given in the form of thousands of dollars in donations at various fundraisers to people such as State Rep candidate Jay DeBoyer and other District Commissioners is not a coincidence. Each of those elected officials would have "A piece of the pie" in various factories that would be built on Chartier's land, such as a factory to build batteries for electric vehicles.

Chartier personally acknowledges during the meeting that one of the areas of business he deals in is building roads. This is one of the key reasons why the District Commissioners of St. Clair County are now insisting 26 Mile Road be widened. This widening of Marine City Highway would give millions of dollars in work that is not needed to Chartier while simultaneously providing free sewer lines and free city water lines to Chartier in places that Chartier plans to open condominiums.

During the meeting, Chartier even threatens the community of Ira Township by saying that if his rezoning from Agricultural to Light Industrial is not approved, he will be moving his entire business out of Ira Township to a different municipality - which would take tax revenue with it.

The Planning Commission votes unanimously to "Table" this matter to a future meeting in order to examine information provided during the meeting. Some of this information was provided by a member of the China Township Board. This information contained dozens of pages confirming law violations committed by Chartier over a period of many years.

Multiple people speaking during the Public Hearing specifically said they were very concerned because Chartier has a poor record of dealing with Toxic Waste and Environmentally Hazardous materials. Chartier admits during the Planning Commission meeting that these types of materials would be included on the land.

The Planner of Ira Township explains that if Chartier is approved at any point, there is a process of forming a petition to fight against this rezone via petition within 30 days.

The people in attendance of the of the Public Hearing make it clear they are going to start seeking signatures immediately from people in Ira Township and surrounding communities in St. Clair County Michigan to fight against selfish so-called businessman, Todd Chartier.
